The text on the chassis and bogie of DG03 models has under gone many changes. The DG02-DG03 text on the baseplate was removed and replaced by a raised section, as with the DG02 model. The word ‘Days Gone’ underwent a similar change. In 1992 the vertical bars above the chassis were shortened shown in this example.

The central horizontal body line as found on this model was removed in 1984 to aid tampo printing. The DG2-DG3 text on the baseplate was removed from the front bogie of the model in 1985 and was replaced by a raised section so that the model could be used for promotional purposes.

Within a few days of initial production it became necessary to introduce a flange on the draw bar cross piece to prevent the horses from turning upside down during packing. The first casting is probably the rarest variation and can only be found on very early DG1000, Westminster models with a yellow crest. Later during 1983 a triangular brace was introduced to add support to the end panels. In 1984 the draw bar was strengthened to prevent flexing.

In 1986 the body casting was modified  to include a side advertising panel on the lower edge of the central windows. Lower deck seats were fitted in 1989.
