The Marathons range was supposedly focussed towards the children’s market, the detail was lacking reducing the appeal towards the adult collector and their life was to be short lived. It did find a niche market in the Promotional market and were being produced up until the closure of Lledo plc.

Although we now refer to models as DG/LP/PM etc. the Lledo system was then not programmed to take alpha numerical identities so all models were referred to by the numeric only.

The digits 100 onwards were chosen for models to be manufactured under the PM series. At the time it wasn’t envisaged that at some future point the DG numbering range would reach this 100 barrier as the company had only reached DG49 when the PM series started in 1991.

In 1999, did ‘100’ on the production schedule mean a Ford Transit Mini Bus or a Fordson7v Truck? The problem was never addressed as Lledo would soon be placed into receivership.
